1,967 container sites for separate waste collection are available in Bashkiria

To date, 1,967 container sites for separate waste collection have been equipped in the territory of Bashkiria with 2,485 colored containers, the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Republic of Bashkortostan Ural Iskandarov said at the board of the department.

A total of 20 144 container sites with 54 487 containers are installed in the republic.

According to the minister, over the two years of the "garbage reform," container sites have been equipped, and containers purchased 2.5 times more than their initial number. As of January 1, 2019, 8,992 MSW accumulation sites equipped with 21,252 containers were organized in the republic.

Now the equipment of municipalities with container sites reaches 75%, waste containers - 79%. This year, it is necessary to achieve 90% of the indicator, Ural Iskandarov stressed. More than 6 thousand container sites and 13.5 thousand containers should be equipped and purchased.

The share of the population covered by separate waste collection (SWC) should be at least 70% in 2021. At present, only 37% of the population of the republic is covered by a separate collection.

It is known that they have begun to implement the SWC system in 30 municipalities of the republic.

Earlier, the authorities said that by 2024 Bashkortostan should completely switch to selective waste collection.
