Head of Rospotrebnadzor warned of high risk of contracting coronavirus

In spring, the risk of contracting viral infections, including the coronavirus, traditionally increases. Anna Popova, the head of Rospotrebnadzor (Russian Federal State Agency for Health and Consumer Rights), stated this in an interview with the Russia 1 TV channel.

According to her, by joint efforts, it is possible to contain the spread of COVID-19, but so far, the situation is far from ideal. The head of the department noted that there are many asymptomatic cases, so the probability of catching the virus is very high today.

"All respiratory infections come in mid-January, February, and March. Now we cannot say that everything has passed, and we are letting go of things. This is not true. Today the risks are still quite high," Anna Popova said.

She warned that those who get infected at the beginning of the epidemiological situation and at the end are most seriously ill. And here, the main thing is not to be among those who get sick at the end of the disease.

In Russia, according to Anna Popova, the main strain of the coronavirus mostly circulates, and the so-called "British" strain has hardly penetrated our country - only a few cases of import have been recorded.
