Natural population decline increased by 2.6 times in Bashkiria in 2020 - Rosstat

Mortality in Bashkiria increased by 1.2 times in 2020 compared to 2019. From January to December, 59 844 people died in the republic, it follows from the data of Rosstat. A year earlier, 49,195 residents of the region had died. The difference was 10 649 people.

In December 2020, 6,275 people died in Bashkortostan, statistics inform. This is 1.5 times more than in December 2019. According to the department, 64 residents became victims of COVID-19 in December.

It is also reported that the number of deaths last year in the republic exceeded the number of births by 18 664 people. Compared to 2019, the natural population decline increased 2.6 times.

For 12 months of 2020, 41,180 babies were born in Bashkortostan; a year earlier, there were more newborns - 42,031.
