Funding for program to combat oncology has decreased in Bashkiria

In Bashkiria, funding for a program to combat cancer has more than halved. In 2020, the region received 1 billion rubles as part of the national project; in 2021 - 450 million rubles. According to the Health Minister of the Republic, Maxim Zabelin, this is due to the fact that the region does not need significant spending this year as most of the expensive financial transactions were carried out in 2020. For example, linear accelerators for the treatment of cancer patients were purchased.
“Nevertheless, we have retained the same amount of funding for drug provision for patients with oncology - 2 billion rubles,” the Minister of Health of Bashkiria said at a press breakfast at Kommersant-Ufa.
Besides, Maxim Zabelin noted that cancer mortality has slightly decreased over the past year in the region. In 2019, 180 deaths per 100 thousand of the population from malignant neoplasms were recorded; in 2020 - 176 per 100 thousand Bashkiria inhabitants.
