New test of Rospotrebnadzor will identify coronavirus for hour

A new test for the express detection of SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acids, the causative agent of new coronavirus infection, has been developed by the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor.

A new set of reagents for express analysis for COVID-19 can reduce the amplification time by 5 times or more and the total testing time by 3-4 times. According to the agency's website, the sensitivity and specificity indicators were 100% for clinical samples with high and medium viral loads.

The total testing time will be 1-1.5 hours depending on the sample, versus 4-5 hours with conventional PCR.

The speed, simplicity, and low cost of the technology make it possible to monitor the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Absolutely all components for it are now produced locally at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor. It allows not depending on supplies from abroad, controlling production, and making testing itself available to the country's population.

The diagnostic kit has already been successfully tested in other institutes and meets all modern European requirements.
