World Cancer Day is on February 4. By this date, Bashkortostan Statistics Agency prepared a sampling study for 2019. Then 14 thousand inhabitants of Bashkiria received an oncological diagnosis. The incidence is growing every year: if in 2000 there were 248.5 diseases per 100 thousand people, in 2019 - 346.3.

51.5% of cases were women, 48.5% were men. Women most often have breast cancer, men - cancer of the trachea, bronchi, lung, prostate.

At the end of 2019, 87 thousand patients with cancer were enrolled in the regular medical check-up.

Cancer is the most common cause of disability (40.6%) and one of the main causes of death - in second place after cardiovascular diseases.

If in 2010 the death rate from cancer was 143.9 per 100 thousand population, in 2019 - 177.1.

In 2019, 7,162 people died from cancer. Their average age is 68.9 years (men - 68.6 years, women - 69.5 years).

Doctors emphasize that the earlier cancer is detected, the greater are the chances of effective treatment. Therefore, it is necessary to undergo a regular medical check-up, keep up physical activity, eat healthy meals, and quit bad habits - this is the basis of prevention. Among newly diagnosed cancer patients in 2019, 27.4% had stage I, and 25.2% had stage II of the disease.
