Bashkiria pensioner prepares to break world marathon record
For the first time, the candidate for master of sports in cross-country skiing Ravil Migranov from the city of Ishimbay took part in the marathon 20 years ago, having just recovered from a stroke. As the newspaper "Expert-Bashkortostan" writes, he ran 42 km 195 m in just 3 hours 4 minutes and 21 seconds. Moreover, it was in 33-degree heat when 130 athletes fell out of the race! Then he took the third place of honor among the runners of his age, but he decided not to stop there. To date, the athlete has 20 won marathons on his count.
Now he is 79 years old, and he has not abandoned the sport. Intensive training at the stadium, at the ski lodge, running along the city streets, and regular trips to the gym. This is how the preparation for the upcoming Moscow marathon 2021 looks like. In July, the man will turn 80 years old, he has set himself to overrun the reigning world champion in his age category. Let us root for our countrymen!
