Bashkiria Health Ministry announced start of mass vaccination campaign against COVID-19

The Ministry of Health of Bashkiria announced the start of a mass vaccination campaign against COVID-19. This was stated during yesterday's briefing by Health Minister Maxim Zabelin.

According to him, the next largest batch of the "Gam-COVID-Vak" drug with a volume of 18,900 doses was delivered to the republic the night before.

"All those who wish, who have been included in the waiting list through the Gosuslugi portal, will be invited for vaccinations," the Minister marked.

Maxim Zabelin also answered the question about the possibility of vaccination for senior citizens over 65 years old.

"In December last year, the Sputnik V vaccine underwent a full cycle of trials, which confirmed the safety and efficacy of vaccinating people over 65," he said. "Taking into account our data on the disease and observations of its clinical course, we recommend first of all to be vaccinated for people over 55 years old. This is because the disease is more severe in this category."

The Minister recalled that at the moment, chronic diseases, pregnancy, and breastfeeding for women are contraindications for vaccination.
