19th-century Orthodox church began to be restored in Salavatsky district

Restoration works began at the temple in the name of the holy St. George the Victorious, in the village of Elanysh in the Salavatsky district of Bashkiria. The building of the late 19th - early 20th centuries was dilapidated; the building needed a major overhaul of the roof.
An anonymous philanthropist donated more than a million rubles for the repair of the church. Local residents and tourists raised about two hundred thousand more. The Yangantau Geopark administration, on which territory the temple is located, helped with equipment.
The works have already begun. According to a representative of the contractor, it is planned to finish this summer. In Zlatoust, a central dome was ordered from local craftsmen - the previous one was demolished during the Soviet era.
The temple in the name of the holy St. George the Victorious was founded more than a hundred years ago; several ancient valuable icons are kept here. This is the only Orthodox church in the Salavatsky region. With the opening of the Geopark, the small parish received little support and an influx of visitors.
