Famous athlete, blogger Rustam Nabiev presented Radiy Khabirov with stone from Elbrus

Yesterday, the Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, met with a well-known public figure, athlete, blogger Rustam Nabiev. Recall that in September 2020, Rustam Nabiev was the first in history to conquer Elbrus (6 220 m) only on his hands with the help of ice axes. He climbed the mountain for 15 hours, walked 13 km. In December 2020, Rustam Nabiev took part in a videoconference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which he shared his plans to conquer Mount Cho-Oyu (8,201 m) in the Himalayas. He spoke about this at a meeting with Radiy Khabirov.
"I want to achieve new results, including in terms of sports. Therefore, after Elbrus, I set a new goal for myself: to climb the top of Mount Cho-Oyu, much higher than Elbrus. This has never been done by a man without legs. I plan to go to the Himalayas in September 2021 and achieve this goal", Rustam Nabiev said.
The Head of Bashkortostan offered the athlete to think it over once again thoroughly because he had a wife and children. Such ascents are always a certain risk. However, if a decision is made, Radiy Khabirov promised him support from the region.

Rustam Ilgizovich Nabiev was born on May 13, 1992, in the village of Chekmagush, Chekmagushevsky district. He graduated from Ufa State Oil Technical University.
In June 2015, he was drafted into the ranks of the Russian army. On July 12, 2015, he was injured due to the barracks building collapse of the 3rd training parachute battalion of the 242nd training center of the Airborne Forces in Omsk. For ten months, he underwent rehabilitation in a military hospital in the Moscow region. He had both legs amputated above the knees and underwent 16 operations. In May 2016, he returned home.
Rustam is a public figure, athlete, active blogger. He played as a member of the Phoenix sledge hockey team (Moscow Region). Since 2019 – he is a Member of the Council for Human Rights and Development of Civil Society Institutions under the Head of Bashkortostan.
