New batch of COVID-19 vaccine arrives in Bashkiria

On December 13, Bashkiria received the third batch of the vaccine against coronavirus infection in the amount of 1,900 doses, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Maksim Zabelin said on Monday at a briefing session in the government.
As noted by Zabelin, all received vaccines will be quickly distributed among medical institutions. First of all, doctors, teachers, and social workers are vaccinated.
On December 4, Bashkiria received 1200 doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 "Gam-COVID-Vac" (trademark "Sputnik V"). At the moment, 97 percent of the received vaccine has received the first component, Zabelin stated.
The vaccine is administered in two stages, three weeks apart. After the first vaccination, humoral immunity is formed; protective antibodies appear; after the second effect is fixed, a more stable and prolonged cellular immunity is formed.
Vaccination against the new coronavirus infection started in the republic on December 9. Immunization is voluntary.
The first batch of vaccine was received in September 2020. The drug was administered to 42 doctors working in the "red zones" of the republic's infectious diseases hospitals. There were no complications after vaccination; EIA results showed high antibody titers.
"We should explain to people that vaccination is the main solution to the issue in the series of measures that we are doing to stop the pandemic. After the New Year, we are promised to get this vaccine already in industrial volumes," the Head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov, said at a briefing session in the government.
