Robot Donnie is recruited at Republican Blood Transfusion Station

The first medical robot was hired in Bashkiria. From yesterday, it started to work at the Republican Blood Transfusion Station.

A smart assistant named Donnie (from the word "donation") meets donors, communicates with them, learns contact details, recommends putting on shoe covers and a mask, and taking off outerwear. It will also be able to measure the donor's body temperature, blood pressure, pulse, height, and weight.

The robot will also offer to fill out the electronic donor questionnaire and give it to the transfusion doctor. All received data is immediately printed out and transmitted to the doctor. This will save much time for both donors and station personnel.

In addition to all its virtues, Donnie has a great sense of humor, it happily poses for a selfie, and when asked to dance, he kindly starts dancing. It also gives practical advice on how to lead a healthy lifestyle.

"Currently, work is underway to integrate the robot into the AIST system (automated information and analytical system). This will allow the robot to recognize all donors in the republic using the Facе ID system and receive data on each of them. At the same time, all transmitted information will be reliably protected", the Blood Transfusion Station said.

We add that this is the first case of introducing artificial intelligence into medical organizations' work in our republic and the entire Blood Service in Russia.
