"Vector" CEO said that coronavirus pandemic would end in 2021

The new coronavirus infection's pandemic will end in 2021, said Rinat Maksyutov, head of the "Vector" State Research Center for Virology and Biotechnology.
"The virus will persist, but the pandemic itself will, of course, go away. I am sure that it will happen in 2021," TASS quotes Maksyutov.
The CEO of Vector shared a forecast of the COVID-19 situation during his speech at the Science Bar Hopping online festival, adding that the event could be held offline in July.
The expert believes that the coronavirus pandemic will end as soon as a significant number of the population have this disease and sufficient herd immunity is formed due to mass vaccination. According to him, it is impossible to expect that the SARS-CoV-2 virus will disappear at some point "with a wave of a magic wand".
