Demand for medicines has grown 15 times in Russia

The demand for medicines in the country has grown 15 times, the Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said on the air of the Russia 1 TV channel.
“There was a sharp increase in consumption - 15 times. In June, we understood and assumed, provided for a double increase in volumes. However, of course, no one expected a 15-fold increase,” he said and added that the situation with the availability of drugs in pharmacies was improving.
According to him, all manufacturers have maximized their production capacity.
“We are already receiving information from the field that the situation is improving,” Manturov emphasized.
Information about the shortage of medicines in the regions began to arrive in October, RBC reports.
So, there was antiviral and antibacterial drugs frenzy against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic in the Perm and Altai Territories. Because of this, these funds have almost disappeared from pharmacies.
The shortage of medicines was caused by failures in the drug labeling system. It became mandatory this summer.
The regions were not technically ready for such an innovation. Therefore, pharmacies were allowed to sell drugs without labeling.
