47th Apimondia Congress postponed to 2022 due to coronavirus

At the executive committee videoconference of the 47th Congress of the International Beekeeping Association Federation "Apimondia", it was decided to postpone the dates of the beekeeping forum until 2022 due to the difficult epidemiological situation with the new coronavirus infection in the world.
On November 7, at a meeting of the executive committee of Apimondia, the final decision was made to hold the 47th Congress and exhibition "ApiExpo" in Ufa in the autumn of 2022.
The baton of the 47th Congress was handed over to Russia in Istanbul in 2017, following the results of intense competition with Denmark, Serbia, and Slovenia. Traditionally, within this representative forum's framework, congress events (meetings of the General Assembly and scientific sections), the ApiExpo exhibition, and an international beekeeping competition are held. According to preliminary estimates, up to 8-10 thousand people will participate in the Congress's work in Ufa.
The official opening of the Congress is planned in the Ufa Arena building. The event includes performances by officials, cultural and concert programs. It is planned that about 5 thousand people will take part in the opening ceremony in 2022. The Congress Hall will host two sessions of the General Assembly, and the work of scientific sections will be organized.
The large-scale exhibition "ApiExpo" will bring together about 250 exhibitors. A territory with a total area of about 7,000 square meters will be built up from quickly erected structures for its implementation. It will be located on the Salavat Yulaev Square next to the Congress Hall.
One of the key issues of the upcoming Congress is the scientific component. The Ufa congress's main theme is the bee - as a factor in humankind's economic and ecological well-being.
The highlight of any Apimondia Congress is the technical tours. They are organized to exchange best practices and technologies. Three tours are currently being worked out. Their goal is to show the unique technologies of wild hive beekeeping, carefully preserved in Bashkortostan.
As a result of the executive committee meeting of the 47th Apimondia Congress, it was also decided to hold an international online symposium on beekeeping development in Russia in September 2021 in Ufa.
