More than 2 thousand doses of anti-COVID plasma have been donated in Bashkiria in 8 months

In Bashkiria, since May 2020, more than 2 thousand doses of anti-COVID plasma have been prepared.
Recall that more than six months ago, the region began to procure plasma from donors who had undergone COVID-19 to treat severe patients with the coronavirus infection. The first experience of anti-COVID plasma transfusion to a seriously ill patient was successful.
At present, Bashkortostan is considered a leader in terms of anti-COVID plasma procurement and use.
According to the Ministry of Health of the republic, 8-15 residents donate plasma daily. Up to three doses of a blood component are taken from each donor. Over the entire period, 593 people became donors, 911 donations were made, and more than 2 thousand plasma doses were prepared. There is a reserve of plasma; it is given to medical organizations at their request. All COVID hospitals in the republic are actively using anti-COVID plasma in treatment. According to experts, the positive clinical effect of plasma transfusion in the first 2-7 days of treatment from the day of hospitalization has been proven in more than 90% of cases.
According to the Decree of the Head of the Bashkortostan Republic, plasma donors received additional payments. Since October this year, donor compensations have been resumed. An additional 1 million rubles have been allocated for payments to donors. Earlier, 3 million rubles were directed for these purposes, according to the official website of the region's legal information.
The payment amount depends on the volume of the donated plasma: at least 300 ml - 2500 rubles; not less than 450 ml - 3750 rubles; 600 ml - 5000 rubles.
