Forbes IT billionaire installed public water supply in his native village in Bashkiria

Bashkir-born billionaire Ratmir Timashev (148th in the Forbes list) helped to provide water supply in his grandfather's village. The businessman financed the overhaul work of the water supply system of two streets in the village of Starokalmashevo, Chekmagushevsky district of Bashkiria - Sovetskaya and Lenin Streets, the head of the village council Azamat Yenikeev shared with the Bashinform News Agency.
"We keep in touch with Radmir Vilevich through his sister," said Yenikeev. "His grandfather is from here. He himself arrived here, probably only as a child. Now we are installing plumbing and water pipes along both streets and two fire hydrants for each street - for safety reasons. Our water intake is artesian so that the residents will be provided with quality water. Previously, water came here from another water intake, it did not meet sanitary standards, and there was no water supply system at all on Sovetskaya Street".
Charitable aid to the village for water supply amounted to about two million rubles. In addition to running water, the businessman plans to help a local high school with high-speed Internet. Earlier, Ratmir Timashev financed the publication of his grandfather's book.
"It seems to me that this is an example of the right attitude to Bashkiria, to our small homeland, which should be encouraged," said the head of the Public Chamber of Bashkiria Shamil Valeev.
Now Ratmir Timashev permanently resides in the United States since the Veeam Software company he heads (the world leader in the development of big data cloud storage systems) is located there. However, this does not prevent him from helping his small homeland.
Recall that the Head of Bashkiria Radiy Khabirov called for the revival of community aid tradition in the republic's villages and rural settlements.
"This is a tradition of mutual aid, and we can revive it. It is the human attitude used to be in our villages and cities that we lack in our society now. Let us remember how before, for example, Orthodox churches were built, the whole village went out and took part in the construction, and all our country's peoples had such a tradition. We will revive it as a separate program. What is important, we will also financially help those villages where community aid is being provided," said Radiy Khabirov.
According to Azamat Yenikeev, many people from Starokalmashevo help their native village. Among them, there are politicians, businessmen, public figures, scientists.
