Coronavirus epidemic will end in six months, Russians believe – VСIOM

A quarter (26%) of Russians are confident that the mass spread of the coronavirus in Russia will stop in the next six months, the head of the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VCIOM), Valery Fedorov, reported on the results of a population survey at a roundtable organized by TASS and VСIOM.

24% of respondents believe that the pandemic will end in the coming year. 9% said it takes two years for the coronavirus to spread finally. 3% believe that such an optimistic scenario is possible in the next month.

As the survey has shown, more than half of the respondents are against the possible introduction of a self-isolation regime in the event of a severe deterioration of the epidemiological situation. 45% of those surveyed would support it.

VСIOM also found out that 53% of Russians do not support the possible introduction of distance learning for schoolchildren and students.

55% of the Russians surveyed consider the coronavirus more dangerous than influenza, 30% believe that the disease is no more and no less dangerous for humans in comparison with influenza.

74% of those surveyed are afraid of contracting COVID-19 or worried about their loved ones, 11% are sure that the coronavirus does not threaten them and their loved ones, 5% said that they themselves or family members have already had coronavirus.

The poll was conducted on September 30 and October 5 on two series. The first included 1.6 thousand residents of Russia, 1 thousand residents of Moscow were interviewed separately.
