Radiation Therapy Center for cancer treatment to open in Sterlitamak in 2021

In February 2021, a positron emission tomography (PET) center will be commissioned in Sterlitamak, and a radiation therapy center will also be operational by the end of the year. They will be created at the City Hospital No. 1 and will provide high-tech medical care to residents of the southern regions of Bashkortostan, including the detection of oncological diseases at early stages. The total investment in the project will be over 550 million rubles.
The day before in Ufa, the republic's Government signed an agreement with MedInvestGroup LLC on cooperation in the modernization of Sterlitamak's radiological service. The document was signed by the Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov and the chairman of the board of directors of MedInvestGroup LLC Viktor Kharitonin.
"Together with MedInvestGroup, we are making the second radiation therapy center in the republic. It is important to create a certain bed capacity for its patients. Moreover, to increase the competence of local specialists," said the Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov.
The investor will repair the hospital building and install two high-tech modern linear accelerators. All work will be carried out in compliance with the uninterrupted provision of medical services to the population. Simultaneously, the personnel of City Hospital No. 1 will undergo training following the requirements of international standards.
Modernization of the radiological service in Sterlitamak is part of a large-scale project of the MedInvestGroup company "100 linear accelerators in the country". It assumes to re-equip the equipment park of state institutions at the expense of private investments and install modern linear accelerators.
According to the Minister of Health RB Maxim Zabelin, the demand of the population of Bashkortostan for the provision of such services is quite high. About three thousand residents of the republic will be examined annually in this center.
In Bashkortostan, MedInvestGroup is represented by the UfaVita pharmaceutical company, which employs more than 1.5 thousand people. Over the past three years, the company has paid over 1.7 billion in taxes to the republican budget, and in two years, has invested 2 billion rubles in the plant.
Since 2014, under a concession agreement, the Center for Nuclear Medicine has been operating in Ufa, equipped with a tomograph, a cyberknife radio-surgical unit (there are only eight such devices in Russia), and the production of radiopharmaceuticals required for diagnostics. For five years, more than 23 thousand examinations, 2 thousand operations were carried out, more than 1.5 billion rubles were invested.
