952 children are planned to be born due to IVF procedure carried out in Bashkiria in 2020

Since 2013, IVF programs have been carried out in Bashkortostan at the expense of the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund. Since 2018, at the expense of the Fund, procedures have been carried out for thawing cryopreserved embryos with subsequent transfer of embryos into the uterine cavity.
At the parliamentary hearings on the demographic issue, the Minister of Health of the Republic Maxim Zabelin said that this year an additional 500 quotas were allocated for the basic IVF program and 350 quotas for cryo-transfer of embryos at the expense of the budget of Bashkortostan.
At the same time, the share of the public sector for IVF under compulsory medical insurance in 2019 was 30.1% (in 2020 it was only 15%), the share of the private sector was 68.8% (in 2020 - 84.2%).
In 2019, 2,025 IVF and cryotransfer procedures were performed. 588 pregnancies occurred, the efficiency was 29%, 610 children were born.
The Health Minister believes that the annual allocation of additional funds from the budget of the republic will increase the availability of this type of assistance for residents of Bashkortostan and reduce the waiting period for IVF for infertile couples.
According to preliminary data, due to the procedures carried out in 2020, only 952 children will be born, of which the number of children after IVF under compulsory medical insurance is 647, the number of children after state-financed IVF is 305.
However, according to Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Family, Labor and Social Protection of the Population Lenara Ivanova, the in vitro fertilization procedure was not the most effective in terms of increasing the birth rate. The annual increase in the birth rate due to this procedure will be about 505 children.
Among the alternative factors influencing the demographic processes, Lenara Ivanova named the improvement of infrastructure, friendly to the family: the development of a system of certificates for the supervision and care of children, etc.
