Ufa infectious disease doctor speaks about first days after COVID-19 vaccine shot
In Ufa, 10 medical workers at polyclinic No. 52 were vaccinated with Gam-COVID-Vak (Sputnik V trademark), which was developed to prevent the new coronavirus infection. The vaccine is two-stage; that is, the second shot is administered three weeks later. The first "test subject" was Nadezhda Kolesnikova, a 31-year-old infectious disease physician at the Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital.
"I feel good, just like before the vaccination. The procedure itself is painless. There is something similar to the flu shot, which is also put on the shoulder," said the infectious disease physician.
Doctors vaccinated with Gam-COVID-Vac must keep a self-observation diary.
"Within five days after the first stage, flu-like symptoms may appear: an increase in body temperature up to 38 degrees, weakness, drowsiness, fatigue, a runny nose. If any symptoms appear, then you can take antipyretic drugs such as "Paracetamol", Nadezhda Kolesnikova explained.
According to the infectious disease doctor, immunity to COVID-19 will not be developed immediately after the second shot of the new vaccine. In any case, the front line doctors combatting the virus take tests for antibodies weekly, and as soon as they appear, it will immediately become known.
Earlier, the Bashinform News Agency reported that 37 volunteers would participate in a clinical trial of a COVID-19 vaccine in Bashkiria. The Ministry of Health of the Republic received clear recommendations on storing the drug at a temperature not exceeding -18 degrees Celsius. Once taken out of the fridge, the vaccine must be administered to the person no later than 30 minutes.
