Health Ministry named three diseases that worsen course of COVID-19

The Russian Ministry of Health named three diseases that worsen the prognosis of patients with the new coronavirus infection. These are arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and obesity, RIA Novosti reports, referring to the words of the chief therapy and general practice specialist of the Ministry of Health Oksana Drapkina.

“You have to understand that if we are talking about the coronavirus, then there are three components. The first is the virus itself. We have studied it very well now. We know three diseases that clearly worsen the prognosis of patients with COVID-19: arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and obesity,” she said.

As reported by the Bashinform News Agency, according to statistics, the diagnosis of COVID-19 was confirmed in 8,487 people (+35 people per day) in Bashkiria as of September 22, 2020. 41 infected are undergoing treatment in hospitals, three of which are in serious condition. No one needs the support of lung ventilators. 510 people receive treatment at home. 35 people have died from COVID-19 in the republic since the beginning of the pandemic.
