Famous traveler Fedor Konyukhov plans to climb Kushtau

The famous traveler Fedor Konyukhov announced his plans to climb Mount Kushtau (Shihan).
He announced this on his Instagram.
"I have climbed Everest twice, but never once climbed the Shihan - an ancient coral reef. I am planning to come to the Republic of Bashkortostan with friends and climb Mount Kushtau! To see and capture the beauty of the region from a bird's eye view. I will take with me a small canvas, paints, and make a study," wrote Fyodor Konyukhov.
In the post, he noted that he was aware of the situation around the Kushtau Shihan.
Fedor Konyukhov said that he observed a similar event during the Soviet era in the distant 60-70s, when a similar mountain, Brat (Brother), was destroyed in the Primorsky Territory, in Nakhodka, at the mouth of the Suchan River. That was the same ancient reef, about 250 million years old, only on the coast of the Sea of Japan.
"For millions of years, there have been two mountains in this place, two natural dominants, Brat and Sestra (Sister). During the construction of the deep-water port of Nakhodka, it was decided to blow up Mount Brat and build a quarry there for the extraction of rubble. At the end of the 70s, the extraction was stopped, but the disfigured mountain stands at the intersection of roads and reminds us all with a silent reproach of how thoughtlessly and barbarously we treat the natural landscape of our country. However, nothing can be done. It is impossible to restore the mountain artificially," Konyukhov writes.
Fedor Konyukhov also expressed support to all caring people, activists who fight and risk themselves, defending and preserving the beauty of Bashkortostan and Russia.
