Mortality increased in June in Bashkiria

The mortality rate in Bashkiria in June increased significantly compared to last year.
According to Rosstat, 4,148 residents of the region died, including 23 deaths of babies under the age of one year. For the same period in 2019, 3,801 deaths were registered in the republic. The increase was 347 (9.1%).
In June, the main cause of death was the coronavirus in three residents of Bashkiria. The virus was identified in two. One person died in June is believed to have COVID-19 as the main cause of death, but an investigation is underway. The infection is not the main cause of death, but influenced the development of other diseases that accelerated death in two residents of Bashkiria, and was diagnosed, but did not affect the death outcome - in seven people.
Total, 25,249 people died in the region from January to June. This is by 454 more deaths than in the first half of 2019 (24 795). Death statistics from COVID-19 have not been provided since the beginning of the year. Work continues on updating and clarifying information for each region of the country, Rosstat reports.
3,658 babies were born in the first month of summer in Bashkortostan, which is by 374 more than in June last year (3284). At the end of the six months from January to June, fewer children were born compared to the same period in 2019. 20,156 babies were born, the difference was 549.
The natural population decline in the republic following the results of the first half of the year was 5,093 people.
