"Sovetskaya Square in Ufa will become our main square" - Radiy Khabirov

On Wednesday, July 29, the Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov, analyzed the progress of the reconstruction of Sovetskaya Square in Ufa. The project started at the initiative of the Head of the Republic. The head of the region announced the creation of a new public space on Sovetskaya Square in Ufa at the 5th World Kurultay of the Bashkirs last year in June.

As previously reported, a monument to the Hero of Russia, commander of the 112th Bashkir Cavalry Division Minigali Shaimuratov is planned to be erected on the square. Besides, a light and music fountain will appear here. The first stage of the project is scheduled to be completed by December 10, 2020.

The Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, instructed the builders to consider the possibility of expanding the area.

Later, on his Facebook page, he posted:

“This project, among others, is one of the most important for me - we want Sovetskaya Square in Ufa to become, in fact, our Red Square, our main square. Here we plan to hold the most important events, and people can just relax and walk. In the center of the square, we will erect a monument to our legendary compatriot, the commander of the 112th Bashkir Cavalry division, Minigali Shaimuratov. After all, it was from here that our soldiers went to the front under his command."
