Yangan-Tau team: "We will do our best to develop geoparks network in our republic

The team of the Yangan-Tau Geopark congratulates the residents of our republic, and in particular, the Salavatsky district, on joining the UNESCO Geoparks Global Network. It is not only prestigious. These are unique opportunities - new jobs, a chance to open businesses, and welcome not only local but also foreign tourists.

The republican Geopark Yangan-Tau was the first in Russia and the CIS to join the UNESCO Geoparks Global Network officially. This status makes the geopark attractive to foreign tourists - the UNESCO name means that it provides quality services and is guaranteed to be safe.

Geopark is an open-air museum, the main exhibits of which are mountains, caves, geological sections, minerals, and natural resources. Unlike national parks, access to which is limited, the geopark assumes accessibility and openness for tourists.

Among the main attractions of the park is the Mechetlinsky section. This rock shows the history of land development over the past several million years and the beautiful Idrisovskaya Cave.

The geopark was created in 2017 near the health resort of the same name; it occupies the territory of the Salavatsky district of the republic. In 2019, it applied for entry into the UNESCO Geoparks Global Network and passed through all the stages in record time. Health, ethnographic, and sports tourism are developing in the territory of the Yangan-Tau Geopark.
