Contact tracking system for COVID patients is developed in Russia

The Ministry of Communications of Russia has developed a regulation for tracking contacts of patients with COVID-19 based on geolocation and data from mobile telecom operators. This is reported by Izvestia, citing the federal website of draft regulatory legal acts.

It is planned to use data from the Ministry of Health on a patient's phone number to track the COVID patient. Specialized algorithms will help to identify people with whom the patient has been in contact over the past two weeks by geolocation and provider’s data. This forms a list of people at risk.

"The data obtained is centralized on the information resources of the Ministry of Communications of Russia and sent to the operational headquarters of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the Russian Guard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the Ministry of Health of Russia," the project documentation says.
