74% success rate: over 170 transfusions of anti-COVID plasma were made in Bashkiria

In Bashkiria, patients infected with COVID-19 have already received more than 170 transfusions of anti-COVID blood plasma. The success rate is more than 74. The Minister of Health of the Republic Maxim Zabelin announced it at a briefing session in the Government RB on June 22.

The Head of Bashkiria Radiy Khabirov stressed that there should be a reserve of plasma, having noted that donors should be paid promptly for it. Meanwhile, he emphasized that it would be too early to relax regarding the coronavirus situation.

According to the Head of the Ministry of Health RB, as of June 22, there are 4,959 patients with the coronavirus infection in the republic. During the day, their number increased by 53. The growth rate is one percent. In the context of age groups, people of middle and old age predominate. 782 people are currently in hospitals, of which 620 are in satisfactory condition, 127 are in the state of moderate severity, and 35 are severe. In the new infectious diseases hospital, 69 people are being treated, 15 of them completed the treatment and were discharged as recovered. Over the entire period, 2385 people were discharged from the republic’s hospitals. No fatalities have been recorded in the last days.

“Over the last day, we performed 4,304 tests; as of the current date, 356,134 tests for PCR diagnostics have been carried out. More than 32 thousand enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays were performed to diagnose immunoglobulins for the new coronavirus infection”, the department head reported.

He also added that 50% of the bed capacity was free in Bashkiria.

“At the same time, we cut 950 beds, taking into account the fact that we have launched a new infection center in Zubovo, and we are gradually reformatting our hospitals. That is, we are now leaving the minimum recommended number of beds for deployment at the request of the Ministry of Health - 2,900. We now have an occupancy rate of 50%, ”said Maxim Zabelin.

Besides, an irreducible supply of PPE and medicine for two months in advance will be procured in medical facilities in Bashkiria.
