One of Ufa historical streets to be transformed into "modern public space"

The Head of the Republic Radiy Khabirov commissioned to submit a project to transform the Oktyabrskoi Revolutsii Street by September 1. The relevant order is published on the website of legal information.

According to the document, a special working group should develop a concept that provides for a "modern public space" and preservation of the historical appearance of the street. It is noted that the project should take into account the opinion of city residents.

The former name of the Oktyabrskoi Revolutsii Street was Kazanskaya since the Kazan Road began with it. Kazanskaya, later Bolshaya Kazanskaya Street, has long served as the main street of the city. Later, the street lost its central status.

Earlier it was reported that the Oktyabrskoi Revolutsii Street might become a pedestrian. At a meeting of the City Council on March 4, the mayor of the capital of Bashkiria, Ulfat Mustafin, said that Oktyabrskoi Revolutsii could be the Ufa's Arbat since it was here that houses of the late 19th - early 20th centuries were preserved. So far, a final decision on this issue has not been made.
