More than 100 people donated anti-COVID plasma in Bashkiria

In Bashkiria, as of today, more than 100 people have already donated anti-COVID plasma, the Minister of Health of the Republic Maxim Zabelin said at an operational meeting in the Government RB.

Recall that blood transfusion from a donor who recovered from COVID-19 is an effective alternative for treating severe patients with the coronavirus infection. The plasma taken from them, unlike ordinary donors, contains a very high titer of antibodies against this virus. And in conditions where there are no effective drugs against the new coronavirus, its administration can be decisive in severe cases.

In Bashkiria, they began collecting plasma of people recovered from COVID-19 on May 6. The first transfusion of anti-COVID plasma to a patient in severe condition was carried out on May 9.
