First Russian anti-COVID-19 drug will be delivered to hospitals in June
The Ministry of Health registered the first Russian drug from COVID-19 - Avifavir (chemical name - Favipiravir). According to Izvestia, the drug developed by the RDIF and the ChemRar group of companies was included in the state registry on May 29 for a period until January 1, 2021.
It is planned that the drug will be delivered to medical facilities on June 11. It is noted that its effectiveness against the new coronavirus infection will be more than 80%.
The medicine will be sold under contracts with medical institutions - it will not be on free sale.
The Avifavir was created basing on the Japanese antiviral drug Favipiravir. Due to its registration, Russia has become one of three countries, in addition to Japan and the United States, which have a medicine aimed directly at treating the coronavirus.
Manufacturers added that Avifavir is made from only Russian raw materials.
As reported by the Bashinform News Agency on May 30, 80 patients were diagnosed with the new coronavirus infection in Bashkiria, according to the Russian emergency operations center. 88 people recovered, no new deaths reported.
A total of 3185 people with the coronavirus is in Bashkiria. There are 910 in hospitals, of which 36 are in serious condition. There are nine people on lung ventilators. 1141 people are treated on an outpatient basis.
Over the entire period of the epidemic, 1,116 patients were discharged from hospitals. 18 died.
