Decrease in COVID-19 incidence rate is expected in Bashkiria by May 20 - expert

Bashkiria has reached a plateau of the incidence of new coronavirus, and shortly we can expect a decrease in infection rates in the region. This was stated by the experts of the Project Office of Bashkir State Medical University and Ufa State Aviation Technical University on mathematical modeling and forecasting the situation with COVID-19.
“In Bashkiria, the plateau was reached 2-4 days after the Russian Federation. I think that by May 20, we should expect a decrease in the incidence rate below the plateau level of 80-90 people/day,” Naufal Zagidullin, MD, posted on his Facebook page.
According to him, today in the republic, the waiting lists for testing and delays in analyzes have been practically eliminated.
“Nevertheless, almost all hospitals in the region almost every day receive patients with COVID-19, which lead to the closure of departments, testing staff, but everyone is already starting to get used to this regimen,” the expert notes.
Naufal Zagidullin also spoke about arguments about the unreliability of official statistics on mortality from COVID-19 in the country. In his opinion, it’s quite difficult to hide the high mortality rate.
Regarding the matter about the second and third wave of the disease, the scientist suggests that within a few months, small outbreaks of infection may occur, but they will be curbed well.
