Bashkiria is among Top 15 regions of Russia by number of COVID-19 tests

Rospotrebnadzor named the Top 15 subjects of Russia by the absolute number of tests for the new coronavirus infection. Bashkortostan in the ranking took seventh place with an indicator of 96,890 tests, after Moscow (1 225 123), St. Petersburg (324 613), Moscow (301 729), Sverdlovsk (125 084), Nizhny Novgorod regions (110 588) and Krasnodar Territory ( 106 558).

Besides, the Top 15 includes such regions as the Krasnoyarsk Territory (93,261), the Tyumen Region (79,845), the Chelyabinsk Region (78,705), the Stavropol Territory (65,432), the Republic of Tatarstan (64,730), the Kirov Region ( 60 970), Leningrad Region (60 402) and Samara Region (60 363).

As of May 7, in Russia, more than 4.8 million laboratory tests were conducted for the new coronavirus in people, including among those arriving from countries disadvantaged by COVID-19. Russia took second place in the world in the total number of tests for the new coronavirus.

“To date, Russia has registered several domestic test systems that can be used for research for te coronavirus infection. Test systems registered and used in Russia to detect COVID-19 have the highest possible sensitivity and detect single copies of the virus in the reaction. The data are confirmed using the live virus in laboratory tests, including studies abroad, and clinical studies”, the press service of the Federal Rospotrebnadzor commented on the issue.
