Ufa cardiac surgeons performed complex online surgery with colleague from Milan

With the advent of the coronavirus in Bashkiria, other diseases did not disappear. During these challenging times, the doctors of the Republican Cardiocenter performed a complex heart surgery with the help of their colleague from Milan, Eustaquio ONORATO, who helped the Bashkir surgeons online.

“The patient was diagnosed, and the doctors decided to operate on her. During the operation, an occluder was inserted into the problematic area of the heart through the femoral artery using a thin 2-3 mm catheter”, the press service of the Ministry of Health of Bashkiria reported.

Doctors almost blindly determined the location of the fistula, since it was not visible on radiographs. It took them a little more than an hour for the surgery, and the patient took three days to recover.

Similar operations began to be done in the Cardiocenter since 2019. Only this year, four such surgical interventions have already been performed. Seven more residents of the region wait for the same operations.
