Decisions to resume sporting events in Russia will be made no earlier than June 1

Information on the resumption and rescheduling of Russian and regional sports competitions will be known no earlier than June 1. This was announced by the Minister of Youth Policy and Sports of Bashkortostan Ruslan Khabibov after a video conference with the Federal Minister of Sports Oleg Matitsin.

“Our task is to preserve the possibilities of holding the planned events,” the head of the republican Ministry of Sports explained. “We discussed the draft Strategy for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports of the Russian Federation until 2030.”

Ruslan Khabibov reported that in Bashkiria every day since April 1, there were online exercises with champions. He talked about the volunteer activities in which athletes are actively involved.

“Among our athletes, there are no cases of coronavirus. Among the growth points is the issue of training athletes included in the national teams of Bashkiria and Russia. To solve this, we created a working group led by Olympic champion Timur Safin,” the Minister of Youth Policy and Sports of the region said.

Following the meetings of the Ministry of Sports of Russia, a package of proposals to the government on the support and development of physical education and sports will be formed.
