370 patients and staff of Sterlitamak Hospital are awaiting COVID-19 test results

370 patients and employees of the Sterlitamak City Hospital No. 1, which was closed for quarantine, are waiting for the results of COVID-19 tests. A few days ago, a patient was diagnosed here with a suspected new coronavirus infection.

19 employees of Sterlitamak City Hospital who could have contact with the infected patient were called to work on April 10 and remained in the hospital. Patients and medical staff, in total 1,200 people, were tested for the viral infection.

“Now part of the hospital’s employees who had received negative test results were sent home for self-isolation,” said Azat Kurbangaleev, chairman of the Sterlitamak health workers union. “About 120 employees who are waiting for test results and continue to provide medical care remain in the hospital. About 250 patients with ready discharge records are also waiting for test results. The hospital is closed for quarantine, patients from the moment of quarantine declaration were sent to hospitals in the neighboring cities of Salavat and Ishimbay. Patients who do not need medical care with negative tests for coronavirus infection are also discharged from the hospital and remain in self-isolation at home”.

An operational headquarters has been created; the city administration monitors the issues of providing doctors with additional nutrition, hygiene products, and everything necessary.

The city trade union committee of Sterlitamak spent 1 million rubles from the trade union budget on the purchase of protective equipment for health workers in city hospitals, including 500 thousand rubles for the largest hospital in the city - Sterlitamak City Hospital No. 1.
