Head of Bashkortostan announced additional purchase of 550 mechanical lung ventilators

The Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov announced an additional purchase of 550 mechanical lung ventilators on his social media on Monday.

"We have decided to buy 550 more such devices to the previously adopted decisions on the purchase of 143 new mechanical lung ventilators", he said.

The first 17 ventilators, five of which are for children, were delivered to the republic last week. All of them have already been transferred to hospitals.

"In total, there are 1290 ventilators in the republic. Taking into account new batches, the first of which will arrive before April 26 (300 pieces), and the second - until the end of May, we will have 1983 mechanical ventilators. Thus, we will be ready for a large flow of patients with severe forms of COVID-19," the Head of Bashkortostan emphasized. "For a margin of safety, we proceed from the worst-case scenarios; however, we should act to prevent them. But even if it were not this situation, the wear and tear of the ventilators in our republic are large; they would still have to be bought. And now, there will be a reserve."
