Shortage of blood donors due to situation with coronavirus is observed in Bashkiria

Due to precautions to prevent infection with COVID-19, donor activity in blood donation decreased. The Republican Blood Transfusion Station notes a decrease in the supply of blood components.
During the regime of self-isolation, the number of blood donations on weekdays decreased three times, and on weekends - six times. If before the pandemic was announced, the number of donors per day reached 150 people, and on the day off - about 300 people, now no more than 50 donors come in for a whole day.
Besides, the number of emergency and planned operations in hospitals of the republic remained at the same level. Blood loss is possible during any surgery and transfusion of blood components may be required, according to the press service of the city hall. Patients with hematological diseases urgently need a blood transfusion.
Members of the Russian Union of Afghanistan Veterans decided to donate blood to help the station. All who can become a donor (with any blood type) are also asked to come to the Republican Blood Transfusion Station. In connection with the regime of self-isolation and prevention of the spread of coronavirus, for those wishing to become a donor, the Republican Blood Transfusion Station offers to use one of the options for the targeted donation invitation indicated on the official website.
