Rospotrebnadzor began testing vaccine against new coronavirus

The Rospotrebnadzor Scientific Center of Russia has begun testing vaccines against the new coronavirus in animals. According to scientists, they will be able to introduce it by the end of the year, Rospotrebnadzor reports.
During the research, the most promising and safe vaccine prototypes will be determined, as well as the composition, dose and way of administration of the future medicine. Scientists are testing drugs on laboratory animals, including lower primates.
“In order to answer the question about the effectiveness of a vaccine, it is necessary to test its ability to induce an immune response that can protect sensitive animals from being infected by a deadly virus. At the same time, researchers face many important questions - it is necessary to determine the most effective dose and frequency of vaccine administration, the vaccination schedule, and scientists cannot do without the help of laboratory animals. ”
Vaccine prototypes were developed by the Vector Virology Center, located near Novosibirsk. Scientists expect that the introduction of the vaccine will be possible in the fourth quarter of 2020.
Other countries also develop and test drugs for coronavirus. In the US, the vaccine is already being tested in humans, in Italy its development will begin to be tested on animals in the coming week. The World Health Organization (WHO) has also begun testing a new drug. Meanwhile, in Japan, a cure for the flu is called an effective remedy against coronavirus. The medicine was tested in 340 patients in Chinese Wuhan and Shenzhen, Rusbase reports.
