From September 1, 2020, students of all schools in Bashkiria from 1st to 4th grades will be provided with free meals. It was announced at a briefing session in the government by the Head of the Republic Radiy Khabirov.

“We will start on September 1. I ask you to be prepared for this. Tasting events should be held in all schools on September 1, so that parents can taste their children’s meals”, the head of the republic said.

He also noted that starting from the next school year, the cost of one-time hot meals for primary school pupils throughout the republic will amount to 55 rubles.

The Head of the Region warned that there would be no unscrupulous suppliers of school meals in the republic.

On Sunday, March 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law on free meals for primary school children. The document is published on the Internet portal of legal information and will enter into force 60 days after publication.

Putin previously stated in his Address to the Federal Assembly that all primary school children in Russia will be provided with free hot meals. The law allows providing free meals for children studying in elementary school, starting from September 1, 2020, taking into account the transition period till September 1, 2023.
