Birsk city is going to be renewed

The Head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov, presented a visualization of the changes that await Birsk at the end of 2020.
“The area in front of the Trinity Cathedral will become completely pedestrian; we will take all automobile traffic outside the renewed space. We will accomplish Lenin and Alexander Matrosov squares and adjacent streets and historical buildings. There are no ultramodern solutions in the project, in glass and concrete - we have decided to emphasize the originality of this one-of-a-kind city in Bashkortostan, which preserved the merchant patriarchy of the 19th century. Our main principle is respect for history and the key functions of public spaces. They should be comfortable, affordable, and safe. In May 2019, Birsk won the All-Russian Competition for the Best Projects for Comfortable Urban Environment in Small Cities and Historical Settlements as part of the national project “Housing and Urban Environment.” In addition to Birsk, two more of our cities won the competition - Ishimbay and Belebey. Together they received 245 million rubles from the federal budget. The works have already begun,” Radiy Khabirov posted.
In Bashkiria, the urban spaces accomplishment is supervised by the adviser to the Head of the Republic Olga Sarapulova. She also leads the Institute for the Development of Cities and Villages in Bashkortostan.
Besides, Olga Sarapulova is a leading expert in the field of urban development, studied urban planning at leading Russian institutions such as the “Strelka” Institute and the Higher School of Urban Studies HSE, and also worked at the Institute of Regional Geography in Leipzig in Germany.
In May 2019, Olga received a prestigious grant from German Chancellor Angela Merkel to work in the Main Department for Architecture and Urban Development of Berlin, but decided to stay in Bashkiria and work for the prosperity of our cities and villages.
