36.5 thousand people fell ill with influenza and ARVI in Bashkiria over past week

Over the past week, from February 3 to 9, 36 567 people fell ill with influenza and ARVI in Bashkiria, of whom 65.6% were children. The epidemiological threshold is exceeded by 60%, the regional Rospotrebnadzor reports.
According to the agency, exceeding the epidemic thresholds is observed among all age groups except for children from 0 to 2 years. Most affected are children aged 7 to 14 years. Among the adult population, the epidemiological threshold is exceeded by 36%.
In Ufa, over the seven days of February, 11,157 cases of acute respiratory viral infections were recorded, including 6,090 cases (55.0%) in children. The ARVI incidence in the capital is exceeded by 94.6%. The incidence increased by 46%, compared with the previous week. Exceeding the epidemic threshold of incidence is observed among the adult population of Ufa by 66.2%, children 7-14 years old - by 56%.
Exceeding the epidemic thresholds of incidence was recorded among the population of the cities of Ufa, Oktyabrsky, as well as Tuimazinsky district.
Laboratory examinations of patients show that influenza B prevails among influenza viruses - 61%. 25% is the pandemic strain of influenza A (H1N1) 2009. Non-influenza etiology viruses are also determined.
Recall that the epidemic rise in the incidence of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections in Bashkiria began on January 27.
As the Bashinform News Agency reported, the educational process has been suspended in order to interrupt the spread of infection among schoolchildren in the republic. Currently, 177 schools and 10 kindergartens are completely closed.
