Free meals will be organized for primary school pupils in Bashkortostan from September 1

The willingness of Bashkortostan to launch the organization of free hot meals for primary school pupils this year was discussed at the United Russia Public Reception Office in Ufa. The free food initiative was announced in the Address of President Vladimir Putin. According to the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation, all Russian schools should join the process by 2023.

The discussion was held in a video conference format with the participation of all regions and cities of the region.

As noted by the Chairman of the State Committee RB for Trade, Alexei Gusev, about 1900 catering units are operating in the republican schools. Food is not cooked everywhere now; in a number of schools they only serve ready meals, but all schools have the opportunity to organize hot meals.

According to the chairman of the education committee of the regional parliament Rail Asadullin, by March 15, deputies will monitor the readiness of schools to organize hot meals. Checks will identify those schools that need to be equipped in the first place.

Deputy Minister of Education RB Alfiya Galieva said that the Ministry of Science and Education of the Russian Federation had developed a procedure for organizing free meals for primary school pupils for 2020, and announced a competition for receiving funds from the federal budget. Bashkortostan entered the competition and guaranteed co-financing of costs in the amount of more than 266 million rubles, that was, 26.6% of the necessary. The remaining amount, more than 73% of the funds, the republic should receive from the federal budget for catering from September 1 to December 31, 2020.

In Bashkiria, 220,070 schoolchildren are currently studying in 1-4 grades.
