UFA, 31 January 2020. /Bashinform News Agency, Rozalia Valeeva/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
At an emergency meeting, the World Health Organization recognized the new coronavirus as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.
This is reported by RBC with reference to the organization's post on Twitter.
"We are working hard with national and international health partners to cope with this outbreak as soon as possible," said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus.
So far, WHO has not restricted travel and the transport of goods, and the emergency mode has been introduced to help countries with unprepared health systems.
According to WHO, China is taking "extraordinary measures" to contain the virus; it quickly identified an outbreak by the authorities of the country and showed transparency in this matter.
According to the latest data, more than 6 thousand people are infected with coronavirus, 170 died.
Cases of the disease were recorded in almost two dozen countries, including the United States, Germany, France, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, and Australia. In Russia, such diagnoses were not confirmed. Due to the outbreak of the virus, airlines around the world began to cancel flights to China, for example, Ural Airlines canceled some flights from Yekaterinburg to Europe.
Sanitary control measures have been strengthened at the Ufa airport, and the temperature of all passengers on international flights is measured with a thermal imager. Five people were hospitalized, coronavirus was not confirmed. Experts suggest the appearance of the virus in Russia in February.
Employees of Rospotrebnadzor advise to follow traditional personal hygiene measures, wash hands and nose, do not attend events with mass gatherings, do not self-medicate, and refrain from visiting China for a while until the situation stabilizes.
