Population decreased by 6.4 thousand people in Bashkiria over past year

Amid declining birth rate in the republic, the number of infant mortality is growing, stated Maxim Zabelin, head of the Ministry of Health of Bashkiria, speaking at the “Health Care Hour” session.
Thus, in 11 months of last year, by 19 babies more than in 2018 died in the republic - 241 infants versus 222.
“The infant mortality rate for 11 months of 2019 increased by 18% compared with January-November 2018 and amounted to 5.9 per thousand for every thousand children born up to one year. According to current data, infant mortality in the region today has decreased and amounts to 4.7 per thousand”, the Minister of Health emphasized.
The highest infant mortality rates for 11 months of last year were recorded in the Kugarchinsky, Kaltasinsky, Kiginsky, Bizhbulyaksky and Askinsky areas.
And, on the contrary, there were no cases of infant mortality in the Bakalinsky, Belokataysky, Karaidelsky, Kuyurgazinsky, Chekmagushevsky districts and Agidel.
Low rates of infant mortality are noted in Oktyabrsky, Salavat, Neftekamsk, as well as in the Alsheevsky and Gafuriysky areas, added Maxim Zabelin.
In total, 38 690 people were born in the republic for 11 months of 2019. It is 10.9% less than in January-November 2018. The natural population decline in January-November 2019 amounted to -6,454 people.
