From January 18 to 26, the 2nd International Ballooning Festival “Samrau” will be held in Bashkortostan.
Pilots and a crew of 12 hot air balloons plan to fly over the ridges of the South Urals.
According to preliminary information, flights will take place:
in the city of Ufa - from January 18-20,
in the city of Sterlitamak and over the Shihan - on January 21,
on Lake Yakty-Kul from January 21-26.
One of the highlights of the festival will be 12 glowing hot air balloons show in Ufa.
Dates for cities and points are indicative and depend on weather conditions, organizers report.
The festival will also include a flight over the ridge of the Ural Mountains. It is planned to cross the Ural Range in two possible directions, from west to east or from east to west. In 2019, participants made their first massive eight-hour flight over the Southern Urals on seven hot air balloons.
This year, the festival expanded the number and geography of participants and acquired the status of an international event. Ufa Aviation Club "Polet" hosts balloonists from Yerevan, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Tyumen, Omsk, Veliky Novgorod, Velikiye Luki, Kungur, Karaganda, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Yoshkar-Ola and Ulan-Ude.
The organizers of the Second International Ballooning Festival “Samrau” is the State Committee for Tourism of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Aeronautical Federation of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Ural-Tengri tour operator provides ground support in hard-to-reach areas and coordination of the rescue team.
