Bashkiria Government plans to increase birth rate by 8.4 thousand in five years

UFA, 13 January 2020. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
Various measures of state support may increase the birth rate by 8414 in five years. The Deputy Prime Minister for Social Policy Lenara Ivanova presented a road map to improve the demographic situation at a government briefing session.
Thus, 2,480 births per five-year period may contribute to the situation as a result of "improving the quality of pre-abortion counseling."
Another 2625 births may occur as a result of additional IVF and cryotransfer procedures. 83 million are annually reserved in the budget of the republic for these purposes for five years.
From the implementation of the program to improve the reproductive health of the population, the birth of 2175 children is expected.
As a result of the childcare services development, the residents of Bashkiria may decide to have 1134 children more.
Cash payments are important, but not the primary tool to support birth rate: 60% of the families surveyed indicated the desirability of financial and social protection, which various benefits (tax, housing, infrastructure) and compensation for families with children can create.
In this regard, the region has developed a special program. Some municipalities have already set up their local support measures.
The program involves the development of family-friendly infrastructure: open maternity hospitals, convenient children's medical examinations, more after-school centers, discounts for large families for travel tickets, theater tickets, and others.
In 2019, 42 thousand children were born in the republic – by 10% less than in 2018. Five thousand additional births are needed annually to keep the population level of the republic at the same level. The figure of 8.4 thousand childbirths indicated in the roadmap is the most “cautious” and minimal, Lenara Ivanova stated.
“If no urgent measures are taken, the population will decrease. We should start this work and annually analyze the results”, said the Head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov.
