Number of schools and kindergartens is doubled in adjusted Ufa Master Plan

UFA, 23 December 2019. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
The shortage of places in schools and kindergartens remains one of the main problems of the educational system of Ufa. Now 128 schools operate in the city, with a total design capacity of 91.8 thousand pupil places. At the same time, the actual number of pupils on September 1, 2018, amounted to 118 thousand, which is by 26 thousand or 28.4% higher than the normative indicators. In the 2018-2019 academic year, in 58, or 45% of secondary schools, classes were held in two shifts, the number of pupils in the second shift was 20.6 thousand people (17.5%). The 235 existing kindergartens with a design capacity of 43.3 thousand places are actually visited by 62 thousand children, which exceeds the standard by 19 thousand pupils or 44%.
According to the draft adjustment plan for the Ufa Master Plan, by 2025, 67 kindergartens for 13 thousand children and 39 schools for 48 thousand students should be built in the city. The reconstruction of 24 schools will give another 9.4 thousand new places.
Thus, until 2025, the design capacity of Ufa schools, taking into account the reconstruction, should increase by 58 thousand places, and the capacity of kindergartens - by 13 thousand.
The importance of making adjustments to the Master Plan for the development of the city is associated with the need to reserve places for future schools and kindergartens. Without fixing plots for educational facilities in the main urban planning document, they may be occupied by housing or retail and office centers.
In general, according to the proposed changes to the Master Plan, the need for new educational institutions in Ufa is estimated at 229 kindergartens for 36 thousand pupils and 122 schools for 116.8 thousand pupils. In fact, this means doubling the capacities of the existing general education system.
