Russian Government will reduce number of awards for contribution to culture development since 2020

Since 2020, in Russia, six prizes of the Government of Russia will be awarded annually for a significant contribution to the development of Russian culture for artists and cultural workers; Fyodor Volkov Prize for the contribution to the theatrical art development, five “Dusha Rossii” awards for the contribution to the development of folk art, seven A.V. Lunacharsky Prizes for the significant contribution to the development of Russian culture.
The relevant decree is published on the government website.
Currently, 12 prizes in the field of culture are awarded annually in the amount of 2 million rubles each, three Fyodor Volkov Prize for contribution to the theatrical art development in the amount of 100 thousand rubles each, 15 prizes “Dusha Rossii” for contribution to the development of folk art in the amount of 100 thousand rubles each.
Since 2020, instead of these annual awards, the following have been instituted: the Prize of the Government of Russia for a significant contribution to the development of Russian culture for artists and cultural workers - six annual awards in the amount of 3 million rubles each; Fyodor Volkov Prize for his contribution to the development of theatrical art of the Russian Federation - an annual prize of 3 million rubles; Prize of the Government of Russia “Dusha Rossii” for its contribution to the development of folk art - five annual prizes in the amount of 500 thousand rubles each; A.V. Lunacharsky Prize of the Government of Russia for a significant contribution to the development of Russian culture - seven annual prizes in the amount of 300 thousand rubles each.
These prizes will be awarded starting in 2020.
