Radiy Khabirov: “We are fighting for lives of our people”

The Head of Bashkiria Radiy Khabirov reported on measures that were being taken in the republic to curb alcoholism.

“These days, the results of the “Sober Village” contest are being summed up in our municipalities. Starokurmankeevo - the soberest village of Davlekanovsky district - received a prize of 300 thousand rubles for improvement. And the villages of Novoyapparovo and Sergiopol - 250 thousand each. Next will be a debriefing at the level of the republic, where there will be about 400 applications. The most interesting thing is that we are not forcing anyone to participate, people themselves are tired of hard-drinking, ” Radiy Khabirov posted on his Facebook page.

He noted that restrictions on the sale of alcohol had a positive effect.

“After a ban on alcohol in the days of Sabantuy, crime during festivities fell to almost zero. Probably there is no need to tell anyone how many drunken fights used to be there. But we are not just introducing bans, we are changing the worldview. We offer an alternative. We open the doors of all sports, cultural, leisure institutions. One could do nothing and avoid criticism. But we fight for the lives of our people. For our republic, for the large Bashkortostan family”, the head of the republic explained.
